Golden Visa Programme

The Golden Visa Programme was launched in 2013 to attract foreign direct investments to Greece, and is the ideal solution for non-European citizens seeking the freedom to travel visa free within the Schengen Area. The Programme is the most cost effective residency programme within the European Union, and is open to investors and their families, who may all obtain a 5-year residence permit by real estate acquisition. The residence permit may be obtained even while maintaining residence elsewhere.

Important Points to Consider

Permit holders are enabled to be shareholders and receive income from the dividends of a company registered in Greece, but are not allowed to be employed in Greece.
After residing in Greece for seven years, the applicant may apply for citizenship according to the Greek Nationality Code (Law 3284/2004) via the process of naturalization, provided that the applicant can show close ties with Greece and has been successfully integrated as part of Greek society, both financially and socially. The naturalization process entails an exam to verify that the applicant has an adequate knowledge of the Greek language.
